Founded
in 1996, the group La Calaca is one of the
formations most representative of its kind.
On scene, La Calaca is the mirror of the joy
and tenderness, humour and the romanticism,
the dreams and concerns which inspire the
heart of our people. The group offers an
invitation with the voyage to you. With
the program: Guaranteed expatriation.....
Its current repertory is composed of
many original compositions; some taking
as a starting point the forms most characteristic
of the Mexican music: Of Sones Abajeños,
Sones Jarochos, Huapangos... In its evolution,
the group reproduces in Europe, one of the
aspects essential of our traditions: The
bond impossible to circumvent between the
dance and the music. Because in Mexico since
times Préhispaniques, the majority of the
styles of music, are accompanied by dance.
In the case of Sones Jarochos, the taconeo
or zapateado acts also as percussion. On
its side, Huapango which is one of older
Mexicains styles, preserves nowadays, of
the very marked Préhispaniques aspects,
in particular in the way of dancing.
But
La Calaca does not hesitate to use instruments
and forms coming from other countries of America
(and beyond); what gives for result a fresco
of sonorities, rates/rhythms and colors
which recalls us that the Latin-American
ones, have the same origins...
